The streaming subscription keeps charging. The profile sends birthday reminders. The inbox keeps filling up.
A register for what you leave behind.
ClearExit makes sure a person’s digital life comes to an orderly close, whether they arrange it themselves or we take it over when the time comes.
A life ends. Ninety accounts keep running. That is how many online accounts the average adult has today. For hardly any of them is it settled what happens after death. The work falls to the people who already have enough to carry.
Subscriptions keep running
Streaming, cloud storage, newspapers: the charges arrive month after month, and nobody has the logins to stop them.
Memories behind passwords
Photos, voice messages and documents from a whole life. Without access, nobody can reach them anymore.
Every platform works differently
Its own forms, its own deadlines, its own proof, and rarely in your language.
Abandoned profiles invite fraud
Accounts that nobody closes can be misused in the deceased person’s name for years.
One register. Two ways in.
Whether it is planned years ahead or started in the middle of grief, every account ends up settled, and you get it in writing.
Living Record
For anyone who wants to spare their family this work.
- List every account and decide for each one: delete, archive or hand over.
- Name trusted people and decide who may trigger the record.
- Deposit a certified power of attorney.
- Until a verified trigger, everything stays encrypted and untouched.
Case Handling
For families who need support right now.
- You tell us how you were related to the person who died. We ask for proof in every case.
- You send us the death certificate and any other documents.
- A caseworker checks everything before we take any action.
- We handle the closures and confirm each one individually.
Proof, not claims.
We never close an account on someone’s word alone. Every step rests on documents. It deliberately takes a little longer, so that nobody can open a case in someone else’s name.
Documents
Death certificate, proof of relationship and, if there is one, a certified power of attorney.
Review by a person
A caseworker checks every document by hand before a case is opened.
Closure
We go through each platform’s official process on your behalf.
Confirmation
The family receives written confirmation for every account that is closed.
Six categories. A clear decision for each.
| Category | What happens |
|---|---|
| Social media & messaging | DeleteMemorialiseHand over |
| Email accounts | First an out-of-office reply, then closure after a period you choose. |
| Cloud storage & photos | Exported to a contact person before deletion, so nothing is lost. |
| Subscriptions & payments | Cancelled, so no further charges go through. |
| Finance & login-only accounts | Noted for the executor only. We never move money. |
| Websites & domains | TransferArchiveLet expire |
We do not manage assets, and we do not take the place of the heirs.
We ask for proof. On purpose.
Checked by hand
A caseworker reviews every death certificate. There is no automatic trigger.
Certified power of attorney
Full trigger rights only with an officially certified power of attorney, not just a signed one.
Data stays in Switzerland
All records are stored on Swiss servers and governed by the Swiss Data Protection Act (FADP).
Encrypted at rest
Until a verified trigger, nobody but the person themselves can access their record.
Never passwords
We store no login details and close accounts only through each platform’s official process.
The right to say no
Named people may decline. A record can be changed or withdrawn at any time.
People, not automation.
ClearExit is run by two people in Zürich. When you write to us, one of us will reply to you personally.
